What Was It?
Kid President is a character played by Robby Novak, a boy from Henderson, Tennessee, in videos written and directed by his brother-in-law, Brad Montague. The first went up in 2012 and was published on SoulPancake, actor Rainn Wilson's YouTube channel.
The breakout came in January 2013 with "A Pep Talk from Kid President to You". Nine-year-old Robby tells viewers that "the world needs you to stop being boring", takes issue with Robert Frost's road less traveled for being full of obstacles, and asks, "Who are you not to be awesome?" NPR said that if you had been online that week, you had probably already had the pep talk.
The videos led to a Hub Network TV show, "Kid President: Declaration of Awesome", in 2014, and a travel series with Montague in 2019.
