What Was It?
Peanut Butter Jelly Time is the internet meme of a small animated banana dancing to "Peanut Butter & Jelly", a 2001 single by the Buckwheat Boyz, a novelty bass music group from Miami signed to Koch Records. Produced by Chip-Man, it was the group's only single.
The dancing banana appeared online in 2002 and swiftly became an internet hit, spawning dances and mashups of its own.
In November 2005 Family Guy gave it a "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" scene, and series creator Seth MacFarlane was astonished by the reaction to it. The song also turned up on The Proud Family. In 2021, Miami label Slip N Slide Records auctioned the dancing banana as an NFT.
