What Was It?
Magical Trevor is a series of short musical Flash cartoons by British animator Jonti Picking, known as Weebl, showcased on his Weebl's Stuff website. Like "Badgers" before it, it was built around a simple, endlessly catchy song.
In July 2004 the B3ta newsletter featured it, describing Picking's mission to compose earworms, songs so catchy they force you to go back and watch again, and calling Magical Trevor a work of evil genius.
Sequels followed, and the first film was broadcast during the Nicktoons Film Festival in 2005. From 2009 its signature tune and artwork were used in adverts for Yell's 118 247 directory service, with Trevor himself appearing in one scene. After a long pause, Magical Trevor 5 was released in 2020.
