What Was It?

"The Llama Song" is a short Flash animated music video, with lyrics and music by Burton Earny. It starts simply enough, "Here's a llama, there's a llama, and another little llama", then keeps cutting in words that have nothing to do with llamas: duck, cheesecake, brick, potato, mushroom.

A strange verse follows in which the singer was once a treehouse, lived in a cake, and never saw the way the orange slayed the rake. By the end the song is "getting thin", and the singer decides to retire and become a duck.

The animation was hosted on Albino Blacksheep, a long-running home for Flash cartoons, and was shared from site to site. By April 2005 one blogger was already calling it a new high in random, catchy songs in Flash.

Things You Probably Forgot

  • "Did you ever see a llama kiss a llama on the llama?"
  • The word "Duck" turning up out of nowhere
  • Cheesecake, brick, potato
  • "Time for me to retire now and become a duck"

The Story

  • 2005 A blogger shared "The Llama Song" from Albino Blacksheep on April 16.
  • 2008 The AlbinoBlackSheep YouTube channel posted it with the official MP3.

Its Legacy

Albino Blacksheep still hosts the animation and the song, and an upload from the AlbinoBlackSheep YouTube channel is embedded here. It remains a fond relic of the nonsense songs of the Flash era.
