What Was It?

"I'm a Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song)" is a novelty dance song sung by Gummibär, a green, blue-eyed cartoon gummy bear in orange Y-front briefs and white sneakers. In the video he bounces and breakdances through a relentlessly catchy Eurodance tune.

The song was written by German composer Christian Schneider and first released in Hungary, where it topped the ringtone chart for eight months. Pete Dodd directed and animated the original 30-second CGI video, produced through Wilfilm in Copenhagen. The English video went up on YouTube on October 9, 2007.

It spread through YouTube and Myspace and was released in at least 43 languages, from French to Klingon. Like Crazy Frog before it, Gummibär turned a ringtone character into a worldwide earworm.
