What Was It?
asdfmovie is a British animated sketch comedy series created, written and directed by Thomas Ridgewell, known online as TomSka, who also stars in it. Each film is a rapid run of short skits in which minimalist characters with emoticon-style faces land in surreal and sometimes darkly funny situations, usually in about two minutes.
The first asdfmovie was released on August 10, 2008. Its name comes from the left-hand home-row keys on a QWERTY keyboard. Clips and GIFs spread as reaction images, especially on Tumblr, fans made their own skits in the same style, and the "I like trains" character got a song of his own.
The series ran to many sequels, plus a book and spin-offs such as "The Muffin Song".
