What Was It?
"Guilty Dog" is a homemade video from Millington, Maryland. On March 8, 2011, Mali Vujanic came home to find a bag of cat treats ripped open and emptied, picked up a small video camera and went looking for the culprit.
"Suspect No. 1" was Masey, a 10-year-old golden retriever, who gave nothing away. "Suspect No. 2" was Denver, a six-year-old yellow Labrador, huddled in a corner. When she finally looked up, she smiled guiltily, showing lots of teeth, while a piano and harmonica song about forgiveness, "Please", played underneath.
Vujanic posted it the same day to share with his Facebook friends, and it went viral overnight. Within weeks Jimmy Kimmel had screened it, and Denver and Masey were taping Good Morning America and Inside Edition.
