What Was It?
Dude Perfect began with one video. On April 9, 2009, five Texas A&M roommates, Tyler Toney, twins Coby and Cory Cotton, Garrett Hilbert and Cody Jones, posted "Backyard Stuntmen", a reel of trick shots filmed at Toney's house and a local park. Within a week it had been mentioned on Good Morning America.
Their second video, "Ranch Edition", filmed at a summer camp, went viral, and the group pledged to sponsor children through Compassion International as it spread. In 2009 they also set a Guinness World Record for the longest basketball shot, from the third deck of Kyle Field.
Doubts about whether the shots were real only helped. Cody Jones said the group loved it when people claimed they were fake, because it made the shots seem even more impossible.
