What Was It?
"Gangnam Style" is a K-pop song by Psy, released on July 15, 2012, with a music video full of horse-riding dance moves and absurd set pieces satirising the wealthy Gangnam district of Seoul.
It went viral worldwide that August. On December 21, 2012 it became the first YouTube video to reach one billion views, and the horse dance was performed at weddings, offices and stadiums around the world.
In December 2014 the video passed the largest number YouTube's view counter could store, forcing the site to upgrade it. Few moments show more clearly how big online video had become.
