What Was It?
"Daft Hands" is a 2007 YouTube video set to Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", from the duo's 2001 album "Discovery". A pair of hands shows each phrase of the lyrics, flashed in time with the vocals. It was made and performed by Austin Hall, who later appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Time ranked it number ten in its Top 10 Viral Videos of 2007, praising its do-it-yourself simplicity and the dexterity of one man's hands. In 2010 Time included it in a list of YouTube's 50 best videos.
It inspired imitations such as "Daft Bodies", and both videos were referenced in Weezer's "Pork and Beans" music video, a who's who of early YouTube hits.
